Launched in June 2022, this was Kayu studios first signature range. Designed using sustainable Teak.
This collections design was a reaction to the New Zealand market. “Our clients wanted beautiful chairs that were versatile, comfortable and natural.”
The proportion scale for this collection is based off table top height (760mm). The communication of the armrest between junction of chair, table and user was fundamental to the finished form.
Universal Chair & Nala Stool
“The natural patina of Teak enlightens organic form. Slender, tapering legs reach up to elongated curvature, wrapping around to gradually attain back rest height. The seat adds to the structural support and marries together the four pillars of legs, gracefully distributing the stress.
Emotive feelings of weightlessness, fluidity and harmony are invoked while maintaining strength, comfort & elegance.”
